Introducing "What to Read Next"

I'm going to assume that you don't need me to outline the plot of a given book. That you're interested in a quick, personal take. I'm also assuming that you, like me, see in Bolsonaro's refusal to concede so far (It is Halloween, October 31, 2022), in Steve Bannon's promoting of same, and in so many other developments here and abroad, a rising tide of fascism. And you are trying to keep your head above water. Separate and apart from showing up for your work, your family, your friends, your nation, you may be seeking an escape from fear. Or a guide to living with fear. Both are shaping my selection of what to read next. And how to understand a given book. Maybe reading is a raft right now. A device to get to shore.
